Our Top 3 Books On Burnout

Today we’re delighted to share our top 3 books on burnout. Obviously we recommend our book, but we also know that additional wisdom is helpful. Each book takes a different slant and allows readers to dive into other facets of this work. Here’s our top three that we recommend outside our own.

Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle – Emily & Amelia Nagoski

This is kind of the gold standard of burnout books. The sisters explain the stress cycle in excruciating detail, and spend a lot of time focusing specifically on the way burnout affects American women. It’s a conversational read with a lot of citations for anyone who wants to chase up more details, and one we recommend wholeheartedly.

Bouncebackability Factor: End Burnout, Gain Resilience, and Change the World – Caitlin Donovan

Full disclosure, we consider Caitlin a colleague in this work and would also recommend her podcast, Fried. We’ve heard from several people that her description of her own burnout and how she recovered helped them recognize their own burnout. She approaches the subject from her training in Eastern Medicine and the fresh perspective is one that we recommend. Also – she was gracious enough to have us on her podcast to talk about the book, which you can listen to HERE.

Stop Being a Doormat – Jennifer Bassman

Jennifer’s work is the most direct and pragmatic one we’ve read. She also includes a workbook to serve as a guide for anyone to find their way out of burnout.

That’s our short and sweet list of our top 3 books on burnout. We’d love to know if you have any recommendations! Comment below if you do.
