After attending this training, I feel more confident in my ability to embrace a conversation around this topic. What I learned from The Good Doctors was to embrace the conversation from a place of kindness and non-judgement, with the recognition that we will get it wrong, but either being called out or calling someone else out is a first step to understanding and growth.

This training has helped everyone understand we each need to be more empathetic and mindful of the needs of different generations. Kristen and Erin demonstrated a unique understanding of the problem we are facing and were able to connect it to specific issues facing our industry. Since the training we have received requests from various coaching staffs to have The Good Doctors return and dig deeper into these issues with their student-athletes.

Their research-based approach linking history to current culture, human professional and personal behavior and our response to the pressures of our society was compelling and intriguing! Kristen Donnelly is an exceptionally dynamic and thoughtful speaker. She commands the space while also maintaining an intimate connection with her audience. Her years of study and humble curiosity create the perfect container to talk about hard things. Her TEDx talk on tolerance is one of my favorite talks of all time. I highly recommend Dr. Donnelly as a speaker, educator and facilitator.

The Good Doctors were fun and explained things that I really never thought of before.

It was like a conversation with friends about life experiences, how they unconsciously shape our actions, and how we can be more aware of our biases when interaction with others that have different backgrounds.

My goals at Ethox are to help employees truly see their greatest amount of potential. (Be the best versions of themselves). We have spent the past 3 months beginning our understanding of the Gallup Strengths Program. Dr. Kristen and Dr. Erin employ a system of strengths based development in their sessions. My “players” are now making connections between what we have begun here at Ethox with the additional help of The Good Doctors. They have been considerably more communicative with their goals, needs, and feelings.

The presenter was fabulous! She was engaging and kind, so accepting and validated that no one is perfect, we all have flaws and to give ourselves more grace.

This session was great, I enjoyed Kristen’s candor and story telling. The historical approach to defining burnout was an incredible approach to the subject area.

As a copywriter I’m conscious of staying on top of the shifts in language and learning/growing so I don’t perpetuate harmful stereotypes or culturally inappropriate phrases. I really liked how they gave concrete examples (and thorough explanations about why we don’t say those words anymore). So much of what we say is habit, ingrained in us from the way we were socialized growing up — and when we’re conscious of how these words impact others then we can choose to be mindful of what we say going forward. The Good Doctors are so genuine and create a safe space to explore our past behaviors without judgment. I enjoyed the back and forth banter and how they played off each other’s examples.

As a head baseball coach, the training provided a better understanding of how we as a staff may need to communicate with our student-athletes along with the concerns they may deal with on a daily basis. This training has made a difference in how I approach my work because I am more aware now of the communication differences amongst generations and am more intentional in using different strategies. What stood out to me from the training was The Good Doctors’ energy, passion, and knowledge of their subject.

Good insight on burnout and easy ways to overcome it.

This talk helped show my audience the importance of actual self care and provided insight for them into where our longstanding culture of “hard work” and constant grinding comes from and why. It helped shift perspectives and planted seeds in the minds of the creatives that maybe they can do things differently and still succeed. Dr. Kristen clearly knows her stuff and has the ability to present it clearly, directly, and in an accessible way. She has the gift of taking what might be considered dry material and making it fun, exciting, and applicable to one’s life.

The session felt less formal than prior IB trainings we’ve had. The ambiance felt friendly and nonjudgmental, which allowed me to focus more on the subject matter and less on getting it right.

Dr. Kristen  brings so much to the table. From the second she begins speaking everyone is engaged. She uses humor and reality together in harmony. We thank Dr. Kristen for sharing her knowledge and passion with us last night. She was born to do this!!!

After this training, I am more aware now of the communication differences amongst generations and am more intentional in using different strategies. The pace of life and work has escalated in the post-pandemic world. Ahead of our 2023/2024 season, we wanted to acknowledge this pace, offer the opportunity to talk about just how busy life can be and offer practical solutions to self-care. The learning sessions allowed our staff to reflect and create practical solutions to address work life balance and boundaries prior to the beginning of the NBA season. Kristen and Erin offer a thoughtful, easy to follow process to proactively address balance and boundaries.

Erin and Kristen facilitated a dynamic discussion around expectations the next generation has regarding the workplace and how companies are rethinking growth strategies to address them at the SOCMA Summit in New Orleans. These ladies and their interactive approach captivated a standing-room only crowd of SOCMA members and industry leaders with not only their knowledge but also practical tips they can put into practice. Their expertise and innovative solutions were well-received and left attendees asking for more.

What stood out during our training with The Good Doctors was their ability to connect with our staff, sharing real world examples and doing it with a sincerity and non-scripted dialog. They were able to present real, relative information in a way that brought the entire room to attention.  Having a room of 40 or so attendees and no one on their phones or laptops is not normal for our organization.  Everyone was tuned in and engaged!

Kristen was great at it … it made you think, it made you more aware it’s not one-way, it made me think that by continuing the conversation it will get the person, staff, board member to have to engage more with me and be able to speak about lots of scenarios they were not prepared to talk about – and throughout the conversation they may go silent.

What is special about The Good Doctors’ training is that they do more than just talk, they involve us in the process.

The reason I decided to partner with Abbey Research and specifically with Dr. Kristen and Dr. Erin on the topics of inclusivity and being a better human is because, well, they’ve done the research, right? They have the education. So that’s super important to me, but they bring a different element to every room that they walked into. They present these topics from a different perspective.

With so many generations working together in the office as well as serving Gen Z as our primary audience, our team leaders wanted to create a space where our employees could openly discuss their preconceived ideas and perspectives while also learning how to show empathy to others. What stood out to me from the training was that it takes great intentionality to show empathy for someone we don’t fully understand. What I enjoyed about The Good Doctors training was the openness and practicality of their approach.

This training helped me to remember to be empathetic towards others and understand that their experiences shape their view of the world as well as their actions. The Good Doctors are passionate about helping others succeed and work together more effectively. It was such a natural fit for Abbey Research to come and collaborate with a fellow chemical company. The department/program that I am creating would not function without visionaries such as yourselves. Developing people is an absolute art that is missed at so many companies in this day and age. We can always learn more about our craft; engineers taking more post grad classes or a chemist attending a seminar. But … we have often forgotten how to develop people. With experts like Dr. Kristen and Dr. Erin, we, as a corporate structure, can begin to develop ourselves into the best versions of ourselves. We can build a better system, a better company, and above all better people.

This talk was so relatable, amazing and fun! Thank you for making it so digestible and for having such great humor. Loved everything!
